High resolution Imaging based on X-ray Holography
نویسنده
چکیده
Up to now standard X-ray imaging technologies, rely primarily on the amplitude properties of the incident radiation, and do not depend on its phase. This is unchanged since Röntgen's discovery [1] that the intensity of an X-ray beam, as measured by the exposure on a film or an equivalent X-ray detection device, was related to the relative transmission properties of an object. However, the new imaging techniques, which have been emerged, depend on the phase of the X-rays as well as the amplitude. Phase becomes important when the beam is coherent and the imaging system is sensitive to interference phenomena. Significant new advances have been made in coherent optic theory and techniques which now promise phase information in medical and material imaging. 1 X-RAY HOLOGRAPHY ON ATOMIC

High-resolution X-ray lensless imaging by differential holographic encoding.
We demonstrate in the soft x-ray regime a novel technique for high-resolution lensless imaging based on differential holographic encoding. We have achieved superior resolution over x-ray Fourier transform holography while maintaining the signal-to-noise ratio and algorithmic simplicity. We obtain a resolution of 16 nm by synthesizing images in the Fourier domain from a single diffraction patter...
متن کاملSingle-shot femtosecond x-ray holography using extended references.
In the context of x-ray lensless imaging, we present a recent approach for Fourier transform holography based on the use of extended references. Major advances shown here rely on a high signal efficiency and on the direct image reconstruction of the object performed by a simple linear derivative. Moreover, the extended holographic reference is easy to manufacture and can be applied to a variety...
متن کاملMonolithic focused reference beam X-ray holography
Fourier transform holography is a highly efficient and robust imaging method, suitable for single-shot imaging at coherent X-ray sources. In its common implementation, the image contrast is limited by the reference signal generated by a small pinhole aperture. Increased pinhole diameters improve the signal, whereas the resolution is diminished. Here we report a new concept to decouple the spati...

With the resolution becoming sufficient to reveal individual atoms, high-resolution electron microscopy (HREM) can now compete with X-ray and neutron methods to determine quantitatively atomic structures of materials, with the advantage of being applicable to non-periodic objects such as crystal defects. An introduction to the theory and practical aspects of HREM is given. Principles of other l...
متن کاملTabletop soft-x-ray Fourier transform holography with 50 nm resolution.
We present what we believe to be the first implementation of Fourier transform (FT) holography using a tabletop coherent x-ray source. By applying curvature correction to compensate for the large angles inherent in high-NA coherent imaging, we achieve image resolution of 89 nm using high-harmonic beams at a wavelength of 29 nm. Moreover, by combining holography with iterative phase retrieval, w...
